I've been to this Japanese massage salon three times now, and overall, I've had consistently good experiences--but there are a few things worth knowing before you go. First, booking ahead is essential. They only take reservations online, and I'd strongly recommend doing that in advance. It seems like they don't handle bookings over the phone--possibly due to a language barrier--so don't rely on calling in. The location is excellent--right near the Louis Vuitton store on W. 57th Street. It's very convenient to get to via subway, bus, or other public transportation. The salon itself is in a discreet commercial building on the 17th floor. Once you step out of the elevator, you're immediately inside the space. As expected for a Japanese establishment, you'll be asked to remove your shoes right away. The staff doesn't speak much English, but they are warm, attentive, and make a clear effort to ensure you're comfortable. In terms of setup: you'll change clothes, but you keep your undergarments on (just note--they don't provide pajamas or spa-style attire). The room itself is very minimal--almost clinical. When I went during winter (right after a blizzard), it felt a bit cold. The massage table is a simple black bench and not heated, which was one of my main drawbacks. Now, the massage itself is quite unique. They practice a form of Japanese Shiatsu combined with Ashiatsu (foot pressure massage). They begin by using their fingers to assess pressure points, then move into a technique where they hold onto a wooden bar mounted on the ceiling and use their feet--heels, toes, and arches--to apply deep pressure while walking along your back. If the idea of someone stepping on your back sounds intimidating, this may not be for you. But if you're open-minded, it's actually very effective. The pressure is strong, precise, and therapeutic. They clearly understand body mechanics and pressure points well, and I felt noticeably relieved afterward each time. The therapists are older, which I personally see as a plus--it comes across as experience and skill rather than anything else. A couple of downsides: * The room acoustics are poor--you can hear street noise clearly (traffic, sirens, etc.). * The overall environment is very no-frills--don't expect a luxury spa vibe. That said, at around $100 for 60 minutes, it's a strong value for the quality of the massage itself. Bottom line: If you're looking for a polished, spa-like experience, this isn't it. But if you care more about results, deep pressure, and a unique, traditional technique, this place is absolutely worth trying. I'll be going back.

Hands down the best shiatsu massage in NYC. I've been coming here consistently for over 7 years, and the quality of the massage has never dropped. Every session is excellent--strong, precise, and truly authentic shiatsu. The staff are incredibly friendly, professional, and genuinely care about their clients. You can tell they really know what they're doing, and the consistency over the years is what keeps me coming back. Highly recommend if you're looking for a reliable, authentic shiatsu massage experience in NYC.
