I asked Dr. Otake to remove the fat necrosis that formed in one of my breasts after a previous surgery. (The doctor who did the previous surgery was wonderful, but he retired.) Dr. Otake said that it would be no problem and agreed to operate. I had a couple of appointments prior to the operation with his staff, he was there once, but he never physically examined my breast. It wasn't until the day of surgery that he made markings and felt the size of the necrosis. I asked that he make the left breast the same size of the right breast after the removal of the necrosis. He agreed and again said that would be no problem. On the day of surgery, I waited over 2 hours on a gurney past my scheduled appointment. ( I wish that I left then.) He finally came into the pre-op room, hurriedly made markings on my breasts and assured me that he understood to remove the fat necrosis from the right breast and make the left breast the same size. After the operation, the right breast still had fat necrosis and the left breast was operated on but was not the same size. At the Post op appointment, I brought this to his attention and he said that in order to make the breasts the same size and the fat necrosis gone, it would be a total mastectomy. He NEVER said that prior to the operation. He only assured me that he would do as I asked. I'm truly upset with myself for ignoring the red flags prior to the operation and on the day of the operation.

Dr. Otake and his incredible team made a difficult time in my life so much easier.
