Such an unfortunate experience. I came in excited for a Covid vaccine research study and was approved. They then went through multiple rounds of trying to understand what it meant that I happen to be a transgender woman. This included being asked by a "Doctor" whether or not I had had a uterine transplant, a procedure which I replied that for transgender women does not currently exist. I was then told it in fact does, and to look it up. I asked this doctor to please cite her sources, a few minutes later a speculative clinical research paper was printed and handed to me in the intake room which again confirmed this was a HYPOTHETICAL future procedure. This doctor then decided to inform me that I would be listed as "male" in the study if I continued and she referred to me as "Sir." I walked out, likely the desired result of approaching me as such. It is important to be thorough in clinical research screening, but being asked to confirm I have not had a procedure that does not exist is unacceptable. Furthermore, even if it were an experimental procedure and I was the single woman in North America who had had it, would I be enrolling in a Covid vaccine study when I already said I was not in any studies, and furthermore one that required me not be trying to get pregnant for the duration of a study. This was not clinical research. This was not confirmation. This was bonkers.
